Nick is the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Finance Ltd. Before joining Rwanda Finance, Nick was the Managing Partner of Karisimbi Business Partners from 2014 – Sep 2019. Nick brings extensive strategic, operating and general management experience to Rwanda Finance. He has served as Managing Partner of one of the leading Management and Strategy Consulting firms in Rwanda, CEO of the largest soy processor in Rwanda, Group Operations Officer of the largest investment company in Rwanda, CFO of the largest juice and dairy processor, and COO of one of the largest locally owned road construction companies in Rwanda. He spent three years of his early career as a Policy Analyst at the Rwandan Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning where he was responsible for implementation of the Rwandan Government’s Fiscal Decentralization Strategy. He is specialized in supporting investment transactions, restructuring and M&A operations, mainly in Rwanda. He advised several corporate clients as well as government institutions. Nick brings extensive strategic, operating and general management experience working as both policy and executive management in various multi-national corporations for over 15 years. Nick is currently an advisory board member to the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change - Rwanda Project and serves the Board Chairman of AB Bank Rwanda and SONARWA Life Assurance, is one of the Board of Directors of Green Hills Academy.
Nick has a master’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Strategic Management from Strathmore Business School in Kenya, one of the leading Business Schools on the Continent and Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the National University of Rwanda as well as diploma in Fiscal Decentralization and Local Government Financial Management at Duke University’s Sanford Institute of Public Policy and a diploma from the Swedish Institute Management Programme.

He serves as a Non-Independent Director of SONARWA Life Assurance Company Limited from 10 October 2018.
Mr. Innocent joined RSSB in 2007 as investment analyst. Since 2015 he was promoted as Portfolio Management Division Manager of Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB). The responsibilities of his position are to carry out the analysis of the Fixed Income Investments (bank term deposits, Government securities, mortgage, commercial papers and loans) and non-fixed income investments (Real estates and Equity) to determine prudent investment reallocation opportunities to generate additional yield or minimize investment risk; follow up the global& macro-economic situation and prepare various analysis reports on regular basis.
He serves other Boards such as Rwanda Stock Exchange (RSE) Board of Directors since May 2015; Vice-Chairman of EPIC (Eastern Province Investment Company) since January 2016, board member of GOSHEN FINANCE ltd (banking services) since May 2017 and former board member of SOYCO MOUNT MERU RWANDA Ltd (soy bean factory located at Kayonza District) from January 2016 to December 2017. An expert in Economics Policy Management graduate from a known University of Kinshasa sponsored by World Bank, Bachelor degree in Management from University of Rwanda at Huye Campus and currently pursuing Chartered Public Accountant course (CPA®) under sponsorship of ICPAR.

Mr. Herbert Asiimwe is Non-independent Director of SONARWA Life Assurance Company Limited from 10 October 2017, He is currently the Director of Banking and Non-Banking at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning since December 2013.
At the time of his appointment as the Director of Banking and Non-Banking, he was serving as a pension and insurance Sector Specialist from May 2009 to December 2013 at the Ministry. He has designed and implemented a number of financial sector deepening and inclusion policies, strategies, studies, and Innovations in Rwanda.
Prior to being the Pension and Insurance sector specialist, he worked as a senior Project Manager at the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). He improved the Project Planning and Management process in RDB and coordinated formulation of projects and monitored their implementation.
Mr. Asiimwe holds a Masters (MA) In Economic Policy Management from the Makerere University (MUK) kampala-Uganda. He also holds a B.A Economics Degree from Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. Lastly, he represents the Government of Rwanda as a Board Member on one the Government parastatals Rice companies and a Trustee for the Rwanda National Investment Trust.

Déogratius Kamurase was appointed as an Independent Director of SONARWA Life Assurance Company Ltd in May 2018, he is the Country Manager for Kerzner (One & Only Resorts) managed properties in Rwanda, with an overall responsibility to manage the implementation, operation and management of all Kerzner managed properties located in Rwanda.
He is a resourceful, forward thinking Business management professional, offering 18 years of professional leadership experience in various business portfolios. He possesses broad knowledge in stakeholder management with a proven track record in project execution including setting goals to ensure complete sustainable solutions for stakeholders. Déo has a proven record in advising, collaborating with strong partnerships across various spectrums of business and as such take clear responsibility in establishing strong competitive environments to ensure best value performance for the benefit of all stakeholders. With leadership and managerial experience gained over time, Déo aspires to continue broadening his skills at leading critical high valued projects, while adhering to implementing and executing cost effective policies resulting in significant bottom line performance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business administration (Makerere University) and an MBA in Finance from University of wales Cardiff. He has also served on boards of a number of companies within telecommunication, Banking, tourism and Hospitality sectors.

Anita Umulisa was appointed as an Independent Director and Chairperson of the Board Audit Committee of Sonarwa Life Assurance Co. Ltd in 2019. Anita is a highly skilled Accountant and Finance professional with over 10 years’ experience.
She brought in to the Board a wide experience ranging from Accounting, Finance and Treasury acquired both in the Assurance services and Banking sector. Anita holds a Bachelor degree of Business Administration with a major in Accounting. She is also a fellow of one of the most reputable accounting group, ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants).
Anita is currently the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of I&M Bank Rwanda Plc whose primary responsibility is planning, implementation, managing and running of all the financial activities of the Bank including business planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Anita is the key contact of financial information both for senior management and the Board of I&M Bank Rwanda. She is currently a member of the Executive Committee.

Eric KAMANZI is a Rwandan by nationality with 15 years working experience in Telecom and Banking sector. He Joined SONARWA Life in July 2018 as Head of Retail Business. He worked with Retail and Customer Operation Departments. He holds a Bachelor degree in Arts and a Master degree in Communication Management (MCM).
For the past 15 years he has served as Service center supervisor in MTN Rwanda, Business centers Manager in Rwandatel, Contact Center Manager in Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Rwanda, Service Retail/ Franchise Manager in Airtel Rwanda and 4G square Manager in Korea Telecom Rwanda Network (KTRN).

Isaie Has over 8 years’ experience in accounts and audit where he spent over 6 years as an assistant and senior auditor at Ernst and Young auditing financial statements of various industries including banking, insurance, telecommunications, construction and others in accordance with International Accounting Standards. With EY Isaie has worked in 10 different African countries. He is a CPA (K) finalist and holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and has been with Sonarwa Life since July 2019.

Eric Cyiza, is a lawyer by profession with a Master’s Degree in International Economic and Business Law (LL.M) and a Diploma in Legal Practice (DLP), he is an accountant by qualification (CPA) and a Certified Corporate Secretary (CS) from KASNEB- Kenya. He joined SONARWA as the Head of Legal and Company secretary from UAP Insurance Rwanda Ltd where he served on the same position, prior to that he was a senior tax and Legal Advisor at KPMG Rwanda, before that he was an advocate and Member of the Rwanda Bar Association and Member of the East African Law Society.

Has over 16 years of experience in the ICT sector in Rwanda. Has held senior positions in different institutions as Technical advisor to the Supreme Court of Rwanda, ICT Specialist and Advisor to RNRA, ICT Director of RNEC/ Rwanda Education Board and Systems Engineer in former BCR (I&M Bank). Was a member of the team that worked on the first E-Payment switching platform by SIMTEL using Visa Electronic cards. Business Transformation: Established new IT organizational infrastructure and revitalized existing operations by implementing LAN, WAN, robust database and dynamic reporting system, support services and business practices to optimize how IT engages with all business processes. Technology Delivery: Enabled institutions achieve high level service delivery through online and SMS based clients’ interactions and service delivery. ICT POLICY PLANNING: He participated in the planning of the National ICT Policies in different cluster groups. National Information Communication Infrastructure (NICI I-2005),NICI II- 2010, NICI III-2015; Part time lecturer (2004-2007): Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (UR-CST) in Enterprise Networking, Database systems, web Design, Human computer interactions and Computer graphics.

Marie Rose UWASE has experience of more than 10 years in Audit and Finance. She is currently working as Head of Internal Audit for both SONARWA General Insurance Company Ltd and SONARWA Life Assurance. Before that, she worked as Head of Internal Audit of Sonarwa General Insurance Company Ltd. She worked for United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) as Finance Associate. She also worked for the Office of The Auditor General for State Finances as an external auditor in Government Institutions and Projects. Marie Rose UWASE is an ACCA qualified accountant. She possesses technical skills in financial accounting, auditing, and risk management. She has good inter-personal, communication and motivation skills and she is experienced in working with diverse teams.

Rose brings on board over 15 years’ working experience in the Insurance Industry from the Kenyan Market. Her wealth of expertise are in the following areas; Claims Management, Reinsurance Management, Sales and Marketing, Risk Management, Negotiations and dispute resolutions and Balanced Score card formulation and implementation. Rose holds Diploma Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) London and at the final stage of Advanced Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) London; various Management trainings by KPMG; KHI; Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) and Capacity Building Institute. She holds Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Public Administration from the University of Nairobi; Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi

David is currently the Head of Corporate Business. He previously worked with the Carlson Rezidor Group now Radisson Hotel Group between 2017 to June 2019 prior to joining Sonarwa Life Assurance in July 2019. David joins Sonarwa Life offering over seven years’ experience in Business Development and Relationship Management with corporate companies, multinationals and government agencies across Rwanda and East Africa where he managed their day to day needs and provided business solutions while managing client portfolios from across the region. David is also a holder of a BA Business & Management from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.

Alphonse boasts over 17 years’ experience in Life Insurance under various roles across departments. Currently, Alphonse is serving as Head of Underwriting & Reinsurance since 2018. Previously, he supervised different operational departments in SONARWA Life as Head of Technical Operations (2years), Head of Claims & Benefits (6years) and Head of Sales & marketing (6years). Before The occupation of these senior managerial positions came after he had worked as senior underwriter in charge of Bancassurance and Group Underwriting (2years) to also mention that he started his career in Sales & Marketing. He got an extensive experience in Life assurance throughout the 14 years in senior management of Sonarwa Life for more than a decade serving in different capacities. He attended many seminars at local and international level gaining great experience on Life insurance, actuarial valuations, reinsurance, bancassurance, microinsurance, management. Alphonse also gained vast experience in regulatory reporting framework, pension administration and has been member of many committees like technical committee of Rwanda Insurers ‘Association(ASSAR) and representing ASSAR in BNR Steering committee to elaborate the National policy on Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing. Alphonse holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance and Accounting from Mount Kenya University and also a Bsc in Mathematics from National University of Rwanda and is a Member of Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK. He is also pursuing professional courses in Insurance.
